Not quite sure what I think of all the wonderful ._ and .DS_Store files... actually after looking for a while on what they do, I didn't find much useful information. When it turned into data forks and resource forks... I stopped looking. Anyway all I wanted was a way to get rid of them, there are tremendous amounts of them on my "Media Drive". I found out how:
find . -name \._* -exec rm -v {} \;
replacing -exec with -ok will prompt removal at every file
I "borrowed" the above from clopes66 on http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-75104.html
On a side note... (not that I have tried it yet) this supposedly makes it so that you don't get .DS_Store files on network drives. Not sure if it helps on the ._ issues or not.
defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true
I found this on an Apple support page, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1629.
There it is for today.
